A police chase, between two individuals dressed up with long coats, buried in their panamas, driving their Chevys. This is what the new tune from Paul Insideinfo Bondy brings to my mind in less than 10 seconds. Trumpets, violins, thriller atmospheres and tension-loaded melodies. The song is called Spychase and is a quite interesting experiment that became a very good song just like the weirdest caterpillar eventually becomes the most beautiful butterfly. Talking about that, anyone remembers Metamorphosis?
Insideinfo is a master of sound. For those who are into this very world of Drum & Bass he is a reference for many aspects, both in composing and in originality. His tracks are never boring and never identical to each other, but nevertheless you can recognize his style in them. It might be a particular taste in drum sounds and in synth design, but you can always spot his work and say -ha! that’s you!- every time. Or at least, I can. Starting in 2006, becoming world-wide known in 2011, he looks like he’s not gonna stop. And may god forbid he does! Since 2011 he signed exclusively for Futurebound’s Viper Recordings, which has also recently celebrated the 100th release starting the release of a decomposed EP (four chunks). We talked about this here. This song is no less than the other releases of Viper of this year, on the contrary I would say it’s the best so far, but yeah I like weird stuff they say. Call me a fool!
Talking about Spychase again, we have to state that we have some inside info about his projects (ha ha). This song is a teaser to something bigger, definitely bigger than a song and an EP, something sized like an LP. A lot of material, all together, from one of the best artists around. As a first teaser this is definitely not bad at all, being creative, original and properly mixed. In the very first five seconds of Spychase I was feeling intrigued, and given the amount of demos we receive this doesn’t happen so often. Most of the cases I’m more like meh, same same as the previous one, good but nothing special but this time I was like oh my gosh (like when I heard UK from Dimension, but that is another story). Overall, this song is one of the best so far in this 2017 and I want to award it with 4.5 jakes, a very high mark in our blog. The violins are the classy touch that raised the mark of a 0.5, and the whole build up and structure are awesome as few others. We can only say that we can’t wait to hear the whole album, Paul!
