It starts fresh.
You’re there, cool, thinking that a very nice and chill liquid release is about to wrap you in its arms. Soon you realize you’re wrong, because glitched vocals take over and punchy drums start setting the bar higher, where the starships are having a laserfight. The whole first song of the two-songs EP, which is Get Yourz, is very rhythmical and catchy: it gets you in the mood, and would serve as a very good transition when you, as DJ, are fed up with the chilly liquid and want to hype the crowd. They would respond very quickly to this!
The second song, Exobiota, doesn’t even leave you with this kind of dilemmas: it just punches you in the face. No surprise, this is a collab with the balkan mastermind of MetNem Billain, which recently has been releasing like a machinegun (also not recently, but it seems to have increased). The whole atmosphere is creepy and anxious, and that is what you want from proper Neurofunk. There is a very good climax in my opinion, and the sounds are neat: an overall success for a dancefloor track (click here in case you wondered what an exobiota is). Kodin and Billain have collaborated before, with quite good results.
Kodin is one of the most famous producers and DJs in the balkan drum & bass scene: hailing from Croatia, he has quickly gone up the ranks proving himself at every step. Bad Taste Recordings, Eatbrain, Mindtech, Ammunition, Subculture, and much more are the labels he already published with, and that is a quite good pedigree. Remarkably, he is also part of the organization of the DNBKonfer
To this release I would like to hit the button of four jakes. It’s neat, very well mixed down and also I personally love glitched voices, they really make me move. Also, I really liked the fact that Kodin has such a variegated musical career, it makes everything more real in the listener mind: a true musician feeds himself with music, doesn’t produce to feed the others.
