From his profile picture, Pythius intensely looks at you. That is the face of someone who knows that he has just dropped the heaviest thing on earth for the time being, and craves to kick you in the nutsack with it. His new Heresy EP is out of bounds, the bass slaps you like Snoop Dogg would do with a 100$ bribe: rhythmically and with arrogance. The Natural Blackout Killer Hylke Klazema (his real name) is one of the early birds of Blackout Music: when it still was just a neurofunk event in Utrecht (Netherlands), he went periodically to the events, and got in the loop at a very young age. Now, after some serious musical studies and a respectable drum & bass pedigree, like the Empire he strikes back. His new EP features 5 tracks plus one in Free Download. The songs deliver his talent crystal-clear, and we can clearly hear the dutch neurofunk influences in there.
Pythius is basically what Anakin Skywalker would have been as a drum & bass producer just after he chose the dark side. When he rages out against his master, for a moment he feels the freedom of being evil, and the same can be said for this EP. The featuring artists for this EP are actually top level artists: Black Sun Empire, Neonlight, State of Mind just to name three. Their hands on the tracks are perceivable and one can clearly detect the spots where they touched something, giving to this EP a magnificient mixed vibe. As always, we want to link at the end of the page our favourite track from the EP, which in this case is definitely Tarkin (feat. Neonlight). This track is dope, it would be great at any time of your set both if you are the DJ or among the public. Enjoy your listen, and don’t underestimate the power of the dark side!
