Usually we don’t write about remixes. This is some sort of a policy we put up in order to make a pre-filtering of the amount of demos that we receive every day: there must be a rule, otherwise it would be just chaos. Chaos. That is exactly what these four remixes evoked in my head when I heard them. Total, pure chaos, a concentrated drop of the chaotic Joker played by Heath Ledger put on a slice of bread together with some nasty basslines, and swallowed quickly without any second thought. After this, it wasn’t comfortable to just say no thanks, we don’t write about remixes.

Billain is the head of the balcanic label Metnem, a label that is rocking the scene in its underground floors, like an oral knowledge that everyone knows but they’re all feared to mention. I saw Billain live twice and I’ll never forget that the first time I saw his mixing skills I thought that he was the best DJ I ever witnessed spinning. I’m not sure if this is still valid in me, but most likely it is: Adis Kutkut rocks! However, we’re not talking about his original tracks but the remixes of them, made by the german duo Neonlight, the londoner Malux, the hungarian Mindscape, and the star wars boy from Utrecht, which corresponds to the name of Hylke Klazema aka Pythius. We received these 4 remixes from Bad Taste Recordings, a label which has been growing a lot recently, even though it has some years back, as their facebook page says (founded 2007). Specialized in Neurofunk, they usually like dem tunes to be grindy, heavy and loaded with bass.

Personally the best remix is the first, which is Neonlight’s remix of Billain’s Manifold. I simply love how it rises, creates the climax, drops and keeps it going for the whole song. However, the other ones are just as good as that one and deserve nothing less (I just had to name one). Each track is a particular shade of Neurofunk, and therefore the collection is not boring at all. It is, in a certain way, clubbing music: because it grabs the biggest club in the area and bashes you with it until you can hardly breathe. An overall 4 jakes!
